This Woman's Work

John and Mickel' and I went to an art show of one of their friends, Kimyi Bo. It was fantastic! These three paintings are from her newest series, which represent the relationship of people to nature.

As Bo says, "Art is my ambition and is the antithesis of ambition."

Coral? Salmon?

A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk would be a sheer delight.

(I couldn't figure out how to get rid of the stupid date!)

Ice Cream Date at Midtown Global Market

This is Jill, enjoying a double scoop of Cow Tracks and Peppermint Bon Bon. Good choices, Jill!

Duty would be wise not to call...

A couple things:

  • I have figured out how to stamp my photos, so I have been doing it. As a photo stealer myself I know this is a good idea. Not really because I am worried about photo thievery (except when I submit them to FC) but sometimes I have stolen photos and forgotten where they came from.
  • On the note of photos and FC, look at this, we are famous
  • The glass looks really grimy and disgusting, I swear it was all clean and glassy looking in real life. It is full of cold coffee.
  • I really am on duty.
  • I am really excited about next year when I will not have to hold keys, phones, or vacuum cleaners.

Celebration

So, sometimes your boss messes up your schedule. And instead of just working the overnight shift, you work fifteen hours straight, spanning an evening, a night, and a morning. And sometimes, when you're done working those fifteen hours, you head straight to the nearest grocery store, buy a Ritter Sport (dark chocolate, to be exact) and some Swisher Sweets, and indulge the entire way home, with Josh Groban serenading (in French) in the background. And sometimes, you just can't help but feel elegant, weary, and fabulously dysfunctional.

It was one of those days.

Passing Afternoon

Despite the fact that today had very strange energy, I had to meet with the dread KB (who leaves no survivors), Family class made me want to murder, and I almost died this morning (a car accident at the crosswalk on my walk to the villa)... This afternoon has been divine. I took a walk and now I must finish this book. Which is actually quite nice. And Short. I might acutally survive.
(And if this is any indication of my extreme moods, I also might be bipolar?)

There is nothing so beautiful...

as the blank pages of a new journal.
( Except, perhaps, those same pages when they're filled with quotes from my favorite Harem girls.)

The End is NOT Near.

But it is close enough to induce panic.
Which is why I did this. I thought it would make my goals and due dates seem resonable.
Not so much.
This semester sucks.
If I think about this any more I might cry, and it has been a lovely week so far, I don't want to ruin it.
So I am going to go make blueberry muffins.

Ramen Revisited

I hadn't had Ramen Noodles in about three years. Now I can wait another three. Although, I do enjoy them. I admit. :)

I heard there was a secret chord...

Tonight I had dinner with the old friends in Giardino and stayed to drink coffee and sing on the balcony while Lura played the violin and Cheresse a drum as the sun set. It was quite magical.

Pileated

Ok, so I swear that I haven't turned into a weird birdwatcher (even though I have recently gone eagle scouting and tried to take a picture of sandhill cranes). But when the birds come back to Minnesota, you know it's springtime!!! And this is a pileated woodpecker. So there.

Why I love the Girasole B-side:

How High the Moon

Do you remember the jazz bar in Zagreb with the bar made out of books and the amazing typewriter and the beautiful woman singing "How High the Moon?" Ah, memories.

Enchanted April

I am not really into soft focus crap, but making it like this was the only way to make the photo as calm and surreal as it was in real life. Peaking over the fence on the walk down the hill. It smells as enchanting as it looks.
