On the corner of Fourth and Franklin

This is (a very blurry picture of) the Electric Fetus, my new favorite spot in Minneapolis. An ecletic mix of vintage records, gifts, and apparel, the Electric Fetus has been an important part of the Minneapolis music scene since the '60s. Formerly the home of Knudson's Department Store (no, Garrison Keillor did not make that up), the Fetus now supplies a wide variety of eco-friendly gear, hipster fashions, and flasks. Even though the word "fetus" is in the name, it's a store that can be trusted.

The Golf Cart

So, I see this guy cruising aroung the neighborhood often. Actually, I see an assortment of middle-aged men cruising around the neighborhood often. I think they must have a schedule for who gets the golf cart. Anyway, seeing any of them is a pretty magical experience.

Oh fer kilts...

For someone with so much gender indoctrination/consciousness/anger, I feel like this is awfully close to objectification...
But the kilt! The socks!
I cannot get over it.
Just for the record this guy did have a face (a nice one at that )- see Annamieke's Facebook.
I just wanted to share with you the profuse kilt-age that was going on in Amsterdam.

She likes...

figure skaters' costumes on TV, polishing the parquet, emptying her handbag, cleaning it out, and putting everything back.

Something to aspire to.

This book is entitled: "Bad Girls: The most powerful, shocking, amazing, thrilling, and dangerous women of all time." Sign me up.

Let the Gender Transgression Begin

I was so brave. I went into the tabaccheria off of Piazza Riforma and spoke Italian and had some Ticinese old man bonding time. And they were not socked or appalled, which does not provide any scandalousness for my paper, but it made the afternoon very happy. Then I went and smoked it on Karen's balcony before the RA meeting. Wednesday I will perform part two... The downtown smoking social experiment. Dylan and Simmy were very enthusiastic about the whole venture and I think someday we might go buy smoking vests (and Sherlock Holmes hats perhaps?) at the Red Cross store so we can light up in style :)

Bondage, by Motorola

So, having a cell phone is great, but I can't wait to get rid of this thing. I do not enjoy the propsect of being reachable at all hours of the day and night.

If you want to know the truth... I did really feel like going back to real life.

All the Faves

Bliss

I love this travel. I love La Fratta. I love this hammock. I love the sun. I love these shoes. And I love how Nahla is smiling in the background.

Lark's Toy Store

It was so beautiful!

Strano Ma Vero

My new favorite phrase.
My clay did not chose to surrender.
And the glaze I used was equally uncooperative.
My bowl and plate were so antisocial they started fights in the kiln, and have scars to show for it.
And I am just a little bit angry with them for not being all shiny and well behaved like this.
But they have personality.

Propaganda Peice?

Or the one and only National Eagle Center, located in Wabasha, Minnesota, which is also where "Grumpy Old Men" was filmed. You decide.

Raku Photograhy...

I did not mean to take this...
It was a pleasant accident.
Look at me embracing chance and relinquishing control!
